Counter Flashing

Our most popular style of counter flashing. This counter flashing is utilized most often to cover step flashing. Quick counter flashing is fast to install and provides a secure barrier to prevent water from penetrating the back side of your step flashing. The quick profile flows neatly over the step flashing, provides a flush surface to mount directly to the brick wall, and a slight kick out at the top for you to seal with a bead of caulking.

Frieze Board

We pride ourselves on our use of innovative products like seamless Frieze Boards. A frieze board is essentially a horizontal board between 2 inches and 6 inches wide, but this can vary for certain types of applications. A brick box is a type of house made mostly of brick. Frieze boards are placed on brick box houses near the top, where they cover the gap between the soffit and the wall or the gap between the soffit and the brick. In most cases, one solid board is used for this purpose, but if you don't have the right size width board, one can be built to your exact specification

Most new walls need sheathing to strengthen them, to act as a nailing base for siding, and/or to boost insulation. Existing walls usually do not require sheathing unless you are stripping off the old siding and applying a different type that calls for sheathing. Be sure to check the siding manufacturer’s directions and local codes to determine whether sheathing is required. For help with sheathing siding, you may want to get quotes from us.

Remodeling a Patio – A Fun Project to Create an Area for Fun

The paved areas adjoining homes are often neglected by homeowners even though they can be easily transformed into useful areas and cozy retreats – here are some ideas for easily remodeling a patio.

patio remodel

Repaving the Area

The pavement used in your patio will set the general atmosphere of the space and will also determine how easy to access and to use the area is. Choose a few slabs of natural stone and arrange them creatively to form a geometric pattern, create an eye-catching mosaic from recycled materials, choose bricks, concrete or pavers of the color shape and size that appeals to you, but always pay attention to quality and professional installation. Whatever pavement design you choose, make sure it is properly installed – loose gravel is difficult to walk on and surfaces that have not been laid or treated properly get damaged easily.

Add Plants

Surrounding your patio with rich vegetation is an easy way to transform your pace into a lush oasis where you can relax and rewind. Try to choose plants that thrive well in your area and don’t need too much maintenance to look attractive. Evergreens and resistant shrubs look great and so do small stone gardens.

Make Your Own Furniture

Old wooden chests and abandoned palettes make excellent raw materials for patio furniture. All you need for transforming them into attractive furniture for your patio is a sanding machine or some sand paper for cleaning the surface of the wood, some primer and paint to make your items more durable and to add your signature style, some fasteners to assemble the furnishing items and some creativity to figure out how to do it. If you already have the materials, but you don’t know how to create the right design, perform a little search on the internet – you will find lots of great tips and tutorials about how to create amazing designs.

Add Decorations

Choose decoration that matches the overall style of your patio. Use throw blankets, ornamental pillows, smaller and larger vases, candles that make you feel comfortable on your patio – it will delight your guests as well.

Add Lighting

Layered illumination achieved with multiple spots of light work great for patios. You can use inexpensive LED strings that you can wrap around the trees that delimit your patio, strings of ornamental bulbs, lantern lights, standard lamps that feature rustic or industrial design – be creative, it will make your patio look spectacular.

Pay Attention to Maintenance and Repairs

After you have created the space that you imagined, make sure you maintain it properly to be able to enjoy it for a long time. Clean your patio floor regularly with a broom, then wash it with a garden hose. If the pavement has some stubborn stains, scrub them and make sure to remove any moss or weed that grows between the components of the pavement. Have the patio roof checked annually by roofing companies Wichita KS technicians to make sure it is free of debris and in good working order. Inspect and clean the furnishing items and the decoration as well and if you have electrical lights that need to be plugged, make sure the electrical system is safe.

Remodeling a patio is huge work, but it is great fun as well and with a little creativity you can have a wonderful, attractive and cozy patio without having to invest a fortune into the project.

Types of Commercial Roofing Products – Features and Benefits

When you plan a commercial roofing project, the first thing to decide about is the roofing material that you want to use – there are tons of different types of commercial roofing products on the market, so you need to evaluate your requirements as well as your possibilities very carefully to be able to make the best choice. Here are the roofing systems most commonly used on commercial roofs today.

EPDM Roofs

EPDM is the abbreviation for Ethylene Propylene Diene Terpolymer, a durable synthetic rubber membrane used especially on low-sloping or flat roofs. The material is very resistant against UV radiation and it can also withstand harsh winds, hail and other extreme weather events. EPDM roofing systems come in the form of large, black or white sheets, which also means that the installation process creates no or only very few seams, making EPDM roofs almost completely leak proof. The material requires almost no maintenance and, in most cases, the necessary repairs can be easily done using a tube of liquid rubber.

TPO Roofing Materials

Another excellent choice for commercial buildings, TPO (Thermoplastic polyolefin) is also a rubber material and it offers features and benefits very similar to EPDM, but it is much cheaper. While the two synthetic materials are quite similar in terms of performance, the difference that determines many owners of commercial buildings to choose TPO is that it is available in many different colors, including tan, specialty hues, white and gray.

Roofing Products for Built-Up Roofs

Built-up roofs, also known as BUR systems, achieve superior protection against the elements with the help of several layers of asphalt-based sheets covered with coating for extra durability. The solution works best for roofs that must withstand heavy traffic and it is suitable for both flat roofs and low-slope roofs. Built-up roofs are preferred for their excellent water-resistance, their low maintenance needs and their durability, but they are slower and more expensive to install than rubber roofs.

Metal Roofs

Made from corrugated metal sheets, this type of roofing is resistant and durable. Today’s advanced manufacturing technologies have created metal alloys that are resistant to corrosion and modern metal roofs are resistant to impact and to extreme weather as well. Other benefits that make metal roofing materials popular include fire-resistance – metal does not ignite, making metal roofs suitable for buildings where this is an essential requirement – and the energy-efficiency resulting from the superior reflective properties of metal.

Modified Bitumen

The material is similar to other, asphalt-based products, such as BUR roofs, but it lives up to 20 years longer and it is superior in terms of reflectivity. Modified bitumen sheets are also very easy to apply and the multi-layered structure makes this type of roofing very strong as well.

If you feel overwhelmed by the many types of commercial roofing products available today, consult Dallas commercial general contractors that specialize in commercial roofs – your expert will tell you exactly which material is best suited for your roofing project and he can also install your roof professionalism to guarantee maximum durability.
